Craig Môr

Originally built for a Victorian sea captain and his extended family, Craig Môr offers flexible accommodation options. There are 11 comfortable beds in 6 bedrooms over 2 floors, so the house is ideal for:

● groups of up to 8 adults
● 2 families
● 1 family wanting plenty of space

Walk through the front door and you're in a typical Victorian hallway, with encaustic tiles on the floor and a fine pitch pine staircase. The lime rendered walls still have their original incised stone block effect which is typical of local houses of this period.
The sitting room is nice and bright, having a large bay window clad in wonderfully figured original pitch pine panelling. There is room for eight adults on two comfortable three-seater sofas, a leather recliner and a leather club chair. There's an open fireplace to help keep you warm on those cooler evenings.

For your entertainment you'll find a flat screen TV with Sky Freesat service and a DVD player. There's a good selection of DVD's to suit all ages and plenty of books, walking guides, maps and even Admiralty Charts of the area for the seadogs.

Next door is the dining room which has a lovely mahogany table that seats up to eight people, with a matching dresser decked out with blue and white pottery and a console table.

Craig Môr

The kitchen was completely refitted in 2008 and has plenty of work surfaces and storage. Among the fittings and gadgets you'll find:

A walk in pantry
Farmhouse table with six chairs (ideal for kids in larger parties)
Gas range cooker
Dishwasher
Toaster
Microwave
Fridge
High chair (a good one that tilts if baby wants a snooze)

Beyond the kitchen there's a large utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge-freezer, further storage cupboards and work surfaces, toilet with washbasin and a dog bed. A door leads out into the enclosed rear garden.

On the first floor there is:

A double room with fine pitch pine panelling to the bay window, 5' mahogany sleigh bed with memory foam mattress and elegant furniture. Hair dryer.

A twin bedroom with 3' beds and memory foam mattresses.

A small bedroom with two sturdy, comfortable bunk beds which are suitable for adults.

Large bathroom with a big person's bath and shower over, toilet and washbasin. Stowed away in here you'll find a baby bath, child's loo step and a good travel cot with removable intermediate deck and baby changing station (packed away but easy to put up if you need it).

A separate toilet.

On the second floor, where there are some sloping ceilings and lovely exposed pitch pine beams there is:

A double room with 5' iron sleigh bed with memory foam mattress. Hair dryer.

A twin bedroom with 3' beds, TV (iffy reception but with a good DVD player for the kids). There are some games and toys stowed under the beds.

A small bedroom with a 3' iron bed.

A good sized shower room (low doorway) with toilet and washbasin.

Outside

At the front there is off-road parking for at least 3 cars, shrub borders and a small raised pond containing carp. A gate leads into a small inner courtyard.

The rear walled garden is fully enclosed and ideal for children and dogs. There's a small lawned area surrounded by mature shrub beds.

Beyond that there's a terrace with two six-seater wooden picnic benches (between early May and the end of October) and a small stone outhouse (the old "thunderbox") where you'll find a barbecue. The garden is quite private and benefits from the sun most of the day.
