
To emphasise the status of Caernarfon as his Welsh Capital and royal palace, Edward contrived the birth here, in 1284,of the son who would become the first English Prince of Wales. Caernarfon is a World Heritage listed site, the ‘fairest castle that man ever saw’, its grandeur complemented by fascinating exhibitions in many of its towers.

The castle’s stylish,modern shop offers an appropriately wide range of goods, from educational materials on Edward I and the Welsh Princes of Gwynedd to Celtic silver and Welsh gold jewellery, pottery, prints, medallions and coins.
