A great holiday doesn’t always have to require a stressful flight and a super hot destination. Providing you choose a scenic location, holidays in the UK can offer just as much enjoyment and exciting things to do during your stay.
One place in particular within the UK which has proven popular over the years is North Wales. Titled the ‘adventure capital of Europe’ and considered one of the best regions to visit in the world last year, North Wales is fast becoming a hot tourist spot.
Many visitors choose to stay in Snowdonia hotels, as they have the advantage of being placed within the most scenic area of the region. The Snowdonia National Park is home to Wales’ tallest mountain, Snowdon, and is abundant with a variety of wildlife.
One of the best aspects of North Wales is that you can experience forest, rural countryside and coastal views all within a short distance of one another.
If you’ll be visiting with a group, this means that everyone can find somewhere to enjoy.
Take a day to explore the ancient woodlands of the national park, before resting up for a day of surfing or sunbathing on the coast.
There are also plenty of activity opportunities within the area, many being incredibly unique to North Wales. For example, you’ll be able to find the world’s longest zip line within the Snowdonia National Park.
This zip line will have you travelling at speeds of over 100mph whilst you take in (or at least try to!) the fantastic views of the surrounding area, including the Isle of Anglesey.
It’s understandable that this activity might not suit everyone, so if you’re looking for something a little less heart racing – Bounce Below might just be what you’re looking for.
This activity is set deep within a former slate mine, which has now been kitted out with giant slides and six levels of trampolines to bounce around on. It’s a great day out for both adults and children, and is definitely an experience you won’t be able to find elsewhere.
Within the Conwy valley, you can find Surf Snowdonia. This popular artificial lagoon offers the perfect opportunity for you to learn how to surf without the pressure of actually being in the sea.
There are a variety of activities to try at Surf Snowdonia, including the Crash & Splash obstacle course, which is great for those who just want to have a splash about in the lagoon.
