Bike related things you can do when self-isolating

As lockdown takes over the UK more of us are finding it difficult to get motivated and find things to do. Whilst cycling in North Wales is still very much allowed as part of our daily exercise, some of us are still self-isolating, but there is plenty to do at home which is bike related.

We have put this list together to help you stay occupied and maintain your sanity during this time.

Clean your bike

Take this time to give your bike a thorough clean, and if you want to get in your partner’s good books, do theirs too! Clean bikes go faster and it’s actually a really therapeutic thing to do. Your bike will be shining by the time it comes to riding it.

Keep up with bike maintenance

Now that your bike is sparkling clean you can get round to doing those odd maintenance jobs that you have always been meaning to do. Things that you might want to check are that your gears are properly tuned and your brake pads aren’t worn. Like cars, brake pads on bikes also need to be changed and adjusted to work efficiently.

Fix all your old inner tubes

If you are a keen bike rider you probably have some old inner tubes that have punctures that you have been needing to repair but never got round to. Now is the time to give them a new lease of life, or, if they are completely unrepairable you can chuck them out.

Plan your cycling routes

When it is finally time to get out on the bike you will need a good route to take. Why not dig out an old map, or look on google for a great bike route you can try out.

Learn a new bike skill

Why not learn something new during this time? It takes a long time to master a skill.

Whatever it is you decide to do at this time, make sure you are keeping active and healthy.
