Criccieth Festival 2014

sunset stroll in CricciethOne of the best events in all of Snowdonia is back for 2014 and if it’s up to the same standard as last year’s action-packed occasion, this year’s Criccieth Festival is unlikely to disappoint.

Set across many different venues of the famous North Wales town, the festival is a metropolitan bonanza of sights, sounds and activities to suit the whole family over three days of fun. Whether you’re into your stand-up or fancy some jazz, there is plenty to get invested in.

It all kicks off on the 14th of June with some great live music in the Bands in the Bar event. Exact locations are yet to be announced so be sure to keep an eye out for all the latest news on the festival’s Facebook. Elsewhere, there Mynediad am Ddim playing at the Marine from 8Pm for your interest.

The following day brings with a photography exhibition from 11am to 4pm at The Green Room in Memorial Hall, a Garden Trail between the many gardens of the gorgeous town between 12 and 4 and a picnic play from 6.30 pm at The Lion Hotel.

On Monday, you can again get involved with the garden trail and photography exhibition as well as another Art Exhibtion from 10am until 2pm at the Holiday Club Hall.

Onto Tuesday and, you guessed it, even more high-quality events are going on throughout Criccieth. Enjoy a Festival Lunch at the Bron Eifon Hotel, listen to a talk from celebrated translator Jim Parc Nest and more. In the evening, get down to some jazz at Cadwaladers and catch The Starlight Players at The Memorial Hall.

Wednesday brings with it the amazing Flower Festival at the Roman Catholic Church on Caernarfon Road and the entertainment of the Welsh Tea event at the Lion Hotel. Following on from that on Thursday, enjoy a special Literature Wales special event at Ty Newydd or invest some interest in the David Lloyd George Memorial lecture from half 7 at the Capel Moreia.

Fix up and look sharp for a special concert at The Memorial Hall on Friday the 20th with a fine performance from the Maelgwn Male Voice Choir. As one of the best at what they do, expect plenty of people to want a ticket to the show so book soon to avoid disappointment.

The penultimate day of the festival keeps up the tradition of quality entertainment with a fine line-up of family friendly activities.  Workshops, circus performances and parades are just a few of the things you can appreciate with the loved ones and the grown-ups can also enjoy a great comedy routine from none other than Barry Cryer at The Memorial Hall on the same night. Saturday is rounded off superbly by a fireworks display which is sure to enchant and delight all who watch on from the historic Criccieth Castle.

The bumper festival draws to a close on the 22nd of June with a special Festival Service at Capel y Traeth; a bilingual celebration put together by Capel Jersualem.
