Castle Cottage sits in Harlech town centre, within walking distance of the castle, and on a clear evening the views across the coastal plain and out to Cardigan Bay are outstanding. The combination of serious cooking, a beautiful location, and a building with genuine character — the "cottage" is a substantial stone building of some antiquity — makes it an experience beyond the food itself. The Food
The menu follows Welsh seasonal produce: Cardigan Bay seafood, Welsh Mountain lamb, local cheeses, and vegetables from nearby market gardens. The cooking is confident rather than showy — the best available technique applied to the best available ingredients, which in this corner of Wales means some of the finest raw materials in Britain. The wine list is unexpectedly ambitious for a restaurant of this size.
