The Estuary Setting
The restaurant's position on the estuary is its defining characteristic. At high tide, with the water filling the valley floor and the evening light on Cadair Idris, this is one of the finest dining settings in Wales. The combination of water, mountains, and quality food is what distinguishes it from restaurants in less exceptional settings — the landscape is part of the experience.
The Food
The menu prioritises fish landed on the Cardigan Bay coast and Welsh produce from the surrounding farms and market gardens. The cooking is technically confident and emphasises freshness over elaboration. Seabass from Barmouth, crab from the Llŷn coast, lamb from the Mawddach valley farms — the provenance is genuine and the quality evident on the plate.
