Moel Siabod is a mountain that flatters the eye and the photographer more than any other in Eryri. Isolated above the village of Capel Curig, its summit offers what many consider the finest view of Yr Wyddfa from any direction — the full Snowdon massif spread across the western horizon, with the peaks of the Glyderau and Carneddau flanking it. The route from Pont Cyfyng climbs through forestry before reaching open moorland and the northeast ridge — a narrow arête with some easy scrambling that provides a miniature Crib Goch experience for less experienced walkers. The summit is a broad, rocky plateau with a trig point and a view that repays every step of the ascent.

The view of Yr Wyddfa from Moel Siabod's summit is the mountain seen as few visitors see it: from the east, the full pyramid of its summit framed by the flanking ridges, the Llanberis Pass cutting away to the left. In winter, with snow on Yr Wyddfa and clear air after a cold front has passed, this is one of the finest mountain photographs in Wales. Arrive early in the morning for the best light.
